Legislation relating to air safety in the United Kingdom's Overseas Territories.
The Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order and subsequent amendments detail the legislation passed by the British Government, governing the operation of Civil Aviation in the United Kingdom's Overseas Territories.
An Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) (Environmental Standards) Order 2004 (SI 2004 No 3337) came into force on 31 January 2005. This Order brought Overseas Territories (OT) legislation into alignment with the UK legislation, so far as necessary, following the commitment made by HM Government to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) during the audit of the UK and its OTs and the follow-up visit by ICAO. The Order gives effect to the provisions of Annex 16 on Environmental Standards - aircraft and engine noise and emissions.
Article 154 of the AN(OT)O provides a procedure for reviewing decisions or proposals made by officials of the Overseas Territories Aviation Authority (OTAA) or Air Safety Support International (ASSI) arising out of the Order. Under this Article, a panel comprising the Governor, and any technical assessors appointed by the Governor, sit as a review panel, reviewing decisions or proposals made by officials.
