An Impact Assessment (previously called a Regulatory Impact Assessment) is an assessment of the effect of policy options in terms of costs, benefits and risks of a proposal. It is government policy that departments and agencies where they exercise statutory powers and make rules with a general effect on others should produce Impact Assessments.
An Impact Assessment for the proposed "rebalanced" AN(OT)O has been published. The new AN(OT)O 2007 is expected to come into force in January 2008.
