Sarah Lee - ATS Inspector/Safety Development Specialist
Sarah began her career as an air traffic controller in the Royal Air Force before re-training as a civil ATCO with NATS in 1992. She worked at a variety of UK airports as a controller, instructor and examiner, eventually becoming the NATS General Manager at Farnborough Airport. In 2006 she joined the UK CAA as an ATS Operations Inspector auditing large and small organisations from Terminal Control at Swanwick ATCC through to the Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly; she has also had responsibility for overseeing the establishment of temporary ATS provision at special events. Sarah joined ASSI in 2016.
Terry Smith – Regulatory Manager
Terry was a Merchant Navy Radio & Electronics Officer, before taking up a role in 1984 at Gatwick Airport as a CNS Air Traffic Services (ATS) Engineer culminating in 8 years as NATS Gatwick Engineering Manager. He joined the CAA as CNS ATS Inspector in 2007 auditing large and small ATS operations, including the Channel Islands (with a key role in approving the new Jersey Air Traffic Control Centre), Isle of Scilly, Isle of Man and Highlands & Islands operations. Terry was a member of an EASA policy rule making working group before heading the CAA Flight Simulation Training Devices team. Terry joined ASSI in 2016.
Departures
Craig Stubbington
After 5 years of service with ASSI and 3 years previously with the CAA, Craig Stubbington, one of our Airworthiness Surveyors, has decided to move on to pastures new.
As of the beginning of October Craig will be providing his knowledge, experience and services to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands.
We have appreciated Craig’s innovative ideas, hard work and amusing stories whilst at ASSI and we wish him all the best for the future.
