Authorisation numbers and definitions
Each technical function has been allocated a number. Click on the relevant Order for a list of what these numbers mean:
Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order (AN(OT)O)

| 19 | To fulfil the regulatory functions of an Air Traffic Services (ATS) Inspector in accordance with the provisions of the AN(OT)O and/or the Regulatory Procedures Manual (RPM) Parts 1&2 and Part ANS and for that purpose to go upon any aerodrome or other place at which an Air Traffic Control service or an aeronautical telecommunications service is provided, for the purpose of inspecting any equipment used or intended to be used in connection with the provision of such services and any document or record pertaining thereto. | |
| 20 | The conducting of a Competency check in relation to an Air Traffic Controller’s Licence or Flight Information Service Officer’s Licence and the provisional suspension or provisional variation of an Air Traffic Controller’s Licence or Flight Information Service Officer’s Licence. | |
| 21 | The regulation of the provision of Meteorological Services for aviation, including access to any document or record in order to determine whether the service is being provided satisfactorily. | |

Aviation Security and Piracy (Overseas Territories) Order ASP(OT)O

| 1 | Inspection of: (a) any aircraft registered or operating in the Territory, or (b) any part of any aerodrome in the Territory, or (c) any land outside an aerodrome which is occupied for the purposes of a business by a person who – (i) also occupies (or appears to be about to occupy) land within an aerodrome for the purposes of that business, or (ii) is permitted (or appears to be about to be permitted) to have access to a restricted zone of an aerodrome for the purposes of the activities of that business, or any air navigation installation. |

| 2 | An authorised person carrying out an inspection under Authorisation Number 1 above shall have power to: (a) subject any property found by him in the aircraft, part of the aerodrome or any property found, to such tests, or take such steps – (i) to ascertain what security practices or procedures are being followed, or (ii) to test the effectiveness of any security practice or procedure, or (b) require the aircraft operator, aerodrome manager, authority responsible for an air navigation installation or occupier of the land to furnish information, as the authorised person considers necessary for the purposes of the inspection. |

| 3 | An authorised person for the purpose of exercising the powers in Authorisation Numbers 1 or 2 above shall have power to enter – (a) an aircraft and to take all such steps necessary to detain it, or (b) any building, works or land in the aerodrome, or (c) any building, works or land outside the aerodrome, or (d) any air navigation installation. |

| 4 | An authorised person may give a detention direction in respect of an aircraft and may do anything expedient to ensure that the aircraft does not fly while the direction is in force including: (a) entering the aircraft; (b) arranging for another person to enter the aircraft; (c) arranging for a person or thing to be removed from the aircraft; (d) using reasonable force; (e) authorising the use of reasonable force by another person. |
